Iran film ‘Abji’ to vie Friday in US

Iranian director Marjan Ashrafizadeh’s ‘Abji’ (The Sis) has qualified to compete at Brooklyn Film Festival in the US.

Ashrafizadeh’s first feature film makes 8th international presence Friday, June 2 in Brooklyn, New York.

‘Abji’ narrates the story of two women who have lived together for more than 50 years, but the situation doesn’t remain the same and the separation time arrives.

The movie won the best feature film award at the 4th edition of the Afghanistan International Women Film Festival.

Co-written by Marjan Ashrafizadeh, Ali Asghari and Nahid Tabatabai, ‘Abji’ deals with the issues related to women and the difficulties they face in life.  

Golab Adineh, Masoumeh Ghasemipour, Pantea Panahiha, Hamidreza Azarang, Babak Hamidian and Shirin Yazdanbakhsh are the main stars of ‘Abji’.

The Brooklyn Film Festival (BFF), is an International, competitive festival. BFF mission is to provide a public forum in Brooklyn in order to advance public interest in films and the independent production of films.

Award-winning films from the Brooklyn Film Festival have gone on to be nominated and awarded at both the British Academy Awards (BAFTAs) and at the American Academy Awards (Oscars).

The 20th Brooklyn Film Festival is held June 2-11, 2017 in New York, US.
